Yesterday as we were driving through Washburn, a town about 30+ miles from here and our county seat, I noticed all of the houses, like ours, still had some pretty sad-looking Christmas decorations buried in the snow around the houses. I'm sure everyone is so sick of this snow, we will all RUSH to clear all this Christmas stuff out and maybe by June we can replace it with flowers!
And since Leann had cataract surgery last week, she is ordered not to lift anything or do anything that would "make her face red." So this is me in the blaze orange hunting season vest and ski goggles clearing off the part of the driveway the plows can't easily get to.
We don't hunt, but we have these vests for hunting season to keep us safer from those who do. And the ski googles help keep the snow off my glasses. Another trick we learned this year!
Our little suburban-sized Toro snowblower can rest for a while. (If these monster "country-sized" storms keep up, we gotta get a bigger one!) Actually the chute got plugged with snow and it seemed safer to stop for a while. The rising temps should take care of the plugged snow.
Waiting for the cavalry (the town plow) to finish the rest!
And what about the Easter eggs? Sometime after a recent snowstorm, Leann leaned our big scoop shovel against this snowbank. Fifteen new inches of snow, however, buried it completely. It seemed a wise move this morning to try to find this shovel before the town plow came along, maybe wrecking the shovel and his scoop. So I went out with my ski pole and started looking for it by poking holes in the snowbank.
It's still in there...

And now it's 4:45pm and here comes the town plow to rescue us!
And the sun is shining and we have promises of 40˚ or more tomorrow and even up to 50 next week!
And then we get to have MUD season!! But thanks to good boots, I'm okay with that.

Almost forgot my Gambles ruler! (Who remembers Gambles hardware stores??) Unfortunately now I see that the ruler/yardstick is not in the deepest part of the snowbank, but the snow was up to about the 3-4 inch line. In order to get it into the DEEPEST part of the snowbank, I would have to crawl into it...and that's not going to happen!
Stay tuned - it's all going to melt really soon!
