News of the Lake and then you can vote!

Temps up into the 50's today made more of the snow magically disappear.  I hear it's supposed to get up to 80 tomorrow in Minneapolis/St. Paul.  (Too warm, too soon, in my opinion but that's our wacky weather, and I hear we aren't supposed to complain about heat this summer...)

Lots of melting going on, roads and driveways are muddy, and our Larson Creek is flowing!  Yesterday we tried the drive to NEAR Quarry Beach (the actual road to the beach itself is still not plowed) on the lake but that was almost a muddy disaster for our car...which is still out in our parking area instead of in the garage!

The dark areas down there is Larson Creek flowing.

The snow is down below 2 feet on my yardstick.

This evening on the news the weather guy said that the ice covering on Lake Superior is down from the almost 100% in March to 81%.  We can see open water out a ways from our marina, but you'd have to go through a lot of ice to get out to it.  And no one knows this better than our commercial fishermen who are docked here.  They will be more than a month behind other years by the time they are able to get out there.

And on the subject of Lake Superior, here's a Lake Superior Magazine survey of your favorite places along the Lake in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ontario.  You don't have to be acquainted with all of the states/territories - just list your "Best of" places for the state(s) you have visited and know.

Thanks!
