Finally a day for the Spring Burn

We have one spot up on the other side of the "tame" orchard by the old house (not the wild apple trees up near our woods) where we collect old brush and branches over the summer and fall to burn at a future time.  It's out in the edge of a big field so there aren't any easily burnable trees near it.  And we only burn if the ground is covered with snow.  And if the wind is pretty calm.  Usually we do it on New Years' Day or something significant like that, but...it was too cold then.  So today was the day for the Spring Burn.  Here is the "Before" picture:

And below is evidence of something flip-flopping across the orchard - not sure what.

And below is evidence that I was thinking this was like a day at the beach!

And below is Leann, although most of the time she was closer to the fire.  When it seemed to get a little to high for my nerves, she was ready with the scoop to throw some snow on the high parts!

And after a little time of burning, it became a nice low, hot fire enclosed by a bowl of snow, all ready to start a new pile this summer!
